Recently, the 2024 Aerospace Special Processing Technology Conference, organized by the Special Processing Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and co-hosted by Suzhou Electric Discharge Machine Tool Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Suzhou Tianhong Laser Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Suzhou. Professor Ren Xudong, Vice President of Jiangsu University, Professor Lu Jinzhong, Director of the Science and Technology Office, and other participants attended the conference. They attentively studied the keynote reports, including "Application of Additive Manufacturing in Aircraft Development" by Academician Wang Xiangming, "Key Technologies in Advanced Aero-Engine Materials and Manufacturing" by Chief Engineer Cheng Ronghui, and "Advanced Manufacturing Technologies for New Era High-End Aviation Equipment" by Chairman Sui Shaochun. Professor Huang Shu from Jiangsu University was honored as the "Most Beautiful Scientific and Technological Worker" of 2024 by the Special Processing Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society.
Jiangsu University's Laser Advanced Manufacturing direction has a history of nearly 30 years, with established research in five areas: laser shockwave manufacturing, laser additive manufacturing and remanufacturing, laser-hybrid energy field manufacturing, ultrafast laser precision processing, and surface design and laser manufacturing. The aerospace and heavy-duty equipment industry has long been a significant application scenario for Jiangsu University's laser advanced manufacturing. In recent years, the team has been approved for projects such as the JKW Basic Strengthening Plan, major national R&D projects, and key projects from the National Natural Science Foundation. Moving forward, the Laser Advanced Manufacturing team at Jiangsu University will continue to deepen foundational theories in this field, breakthrough key technologies, and actively participate in major engineering projects to contribute to industrial development and local economies.
